Alice in Wonderland inspired wedding cakes
We were very excited when we met bride to be Gemma in Spring this year, as her wedding represented a different challenge for us, with an Alice in Wonderland theme and a non-conventional wedding cupcake feel! Away with the bridal designs, and in with kitsch colours and cute cupcakes! And a cutting cake for a mad hatter’s tea party!
With a setting like The George in Rye www.thegeorgeinrye.com we were sold, and soon what started as cupcakes and a cutting cake, turned into a completely styled cake table, with sweet treats and cake pops thrown in for good measure. Our own mad hatter styled tea party table was being dreamt up.
As with any project, I became obsessed with accessorising the cakes in any way befitting of the theme. My husband is thinking of banning my ever burgeoning collection of vintage bunting and bits and bobs, which all came in handy for Gemma & Matt’s Alice styled cake table. Finding the perfect accessories to go with our lovely selection of stands and other props from my home was a lovely task which I started back in August believe it or not!! But despite my prep, we were also helped by the lovely Steph at The Vintage Cup www.thevintagecup.co.uk with a few last minute wonders that added to our table, including some gorgeous china, fab straws and an original vintage Alice in Wonderland book.
We love the organised chaos of this cake table, beautifully fitting with its theme and the personality of the bride & groom. The amazingly talented Jacqui Mcsweeney www.jmcsweeneyphotography.co.uk was the photographer for Gemma & Matt’s wedding, and I cant wait to see her pictures!! In the mean time, enjoy my shots of the table!
